It’s almost Christmas and that means something important: gifts! Gifts for your family, gifts for your friends, gifts for charity, and even gifts for yourself, why not? It’s a time for happiness and it’s also a time for cryptocurrency if we want to. And time for some crypto-themed Christmas gifts, if we’re aiming to be original.

They can work for your trader friend, for your clueless siblings, for your annoying neighbor, for your greedy aunt, for your beginner mom, and your finances and your room. Let’s check some out-of-the-ordinary, cute, and/or useful gifts that you can give this Christmas to surprise everyone.

A different cold wallet

When we think about cold wallets, i.e. little hardware devices to store cryptocurrencies out of the Internet, a flash-drive-thing is probably the first thing popping in your head. They’re the most common, indeed. Brands like Ledger, Trezor, BitBox, and KeepKey offer several models and colors.

However, outside those flash-drive-like wallets with similar functions, there are some cold wallets very different from the others, with different designs and functions. In some cases, you wouldn’t even guess what they are at the first sight.

A great example of it it’s the Real Pizza card by Ballet. In case you didn’t guess it, that’s a reference to Bitcoin Pizza Day (every May 22). This a tiny card with a pizza logo and a QR code suitable for store 50+ cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Litecoin. The funds can be handled with the Ballet crypto app.

As they describe on their website, their “Real” series of wallet-cards (including Real Pizza) are perfect to be a gift, because they’re the physical representation of any cryptocurrency. Plus, they’re offering holiday gift sets with cute Christmas-wrappers. You can find them from $35 on their online shop, where you can pay with Bitcoin (BTC).

Of course, if you’re looking for something more “electronic” but equally original, you can also find online products like the Watch 2 by BITHD and the D’CENT Biometric Wallet.

A painting… with money

Do your loved ones like the art pieces and paintings? Maybe it’s time to buy them as a Christmas gift something that looks awesome in their hall or desktop… and hides real money inside? That’s the proposal of the CryptoArt brand, where you can find beautiful and unique paintings that, besides the aesthetic, can hold some cryptocurrencies.

The tactic is simple: they include a tiny QR code in the corner of the painting, and that perfectly works as a cold wallet. On the back, in the same corner, you can find the private key to move your funds to another wallet, if you want to. And that’s it. The paintings come in limited editions and different sizes (and prices). You can buy them from $50, payable in crypto.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a digital gift, you can find some valuable token-collectibles that are money by themselves. They are unique pieces inside of a blockchain, with different designs and prices. CryptoKitties, CryptoPunks, Corona Babies, Meme Cards, and much more are available in online markets like Open Sea.

Crypto-clothes and accessories

This is a whole wide world, indeed. You can find online, on different webpages, thematic T-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, scarves, face masks, socks, mugs, phone cases, poker chips, magnets, stickers, notebooks, glasses, keychains, and even jewelry.

These products use to have funny messages and puns on them, like “Bitcoin King” (with the Burger King logo), “Hard Fork” (with the Hard Rock logo), “See you on the moon”, “Eat, sleep, trade, repeat”, “Warning! May start talking about crypto”, “Fueled by Coffee and Bitcoin”, and so on. Besides, since we’re talking about crypto Christmas gifts, we can also find some classic ugly crypto-sweaters.

Etsy and Hoodl are popular online markets to buy this type of gift. The latter accepts cryptos and makes worldwide shipping. You can find decent and original crypto Christmas gifts from around $20.

An easy crypto miner

Who’s not interested in making some money from home? A ready-to-use machine to do that could be a great Christmas gift, then. Cryptocurrency mining can look a bit complicated or expensive to carry on but isn’t always that way.

Several companies have developed small devices that are easy to install and use. They’d work perfectly to earn some cryptos from home and without technical knowledge. Among them, we can mention Coinmine One. This is a modem-like device that anyone can plug into a wall outlet, connect to the Internet through the app, and start the mining. Its price is around $800.

Of course, if you’re looking for something less expensive, the Apollo LTC Pod by FutureBit might be an option. This is a device like a small black box you can put anywhere, and it’s capable to mine any Scrypt-based algorithm coin, such as Litecoin (LTC), Digibyte (DGB), Verge (XVG), Dogecoin (DOGE), and so on. The cost for this easy crypto miner goes from $375 to $450, depending on the pack you want to order.

A small Bitcoin node

A cryptocurrency node is kind of a super-wallet, so to say. Anyone can install it, but not everyone wants to because it might be cumbersome and it needs a lot of space and resources in a computer (it’s an entire copy of the blockchain, after all). However, with a full node, the transactions are safer and faster.

Plus, the user can vote on any proposed changes for the code, they help to secure the network and they’re their own bank. They won’t need to rely again on third parties (i.e. wallet brands) to store and transact privately with their cryptos.

That’s why a small Bitcoin full-node device can be a great crypto Christmas gift for your independent friends. We can find this alternative with myNode One, which is a nice hardware package. It includes the device itself, the power supply, 16GB SD card, 1TB external HDD, and the necessary software. It’s also a Lightning Network node, and the user can access BTC Pay Server, Tor, Whirlpool, and other features. All this is available for $279.

Another option’s on its way, and working without the need of the Internet. We’re talking about the Turpial device by Locha Mesh. This is “a portable hotspot which connects you to the Locha Mesh to use Bitcoin, Monero, chat, files, and websites in a censorship-resistant way”; and, of course, sync your own full node. They’ll be available in 2021, but you can pre-order it for $200 and paying with Bitcoin.
