Smart contract platforms allow the creation of decentralized applications. They are currently one of the cornerstones of the blockchain industry, and by November 2022, they have a market capitalization of about $230 billion [CoinMarketCap].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smart contracts<\/a> eliminate intermediaries, reduce costs and minimize errors compared to traditional applications. Its uses are not just limited to finance but also apply to trading, betting, gaming, investing, real estate, healthcare, markets, surveys, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are some of the most popular smart contract platforms on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethereum (ETH)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, we have Ethereum<\/a>, the blockchain par excellence for building decentralized applications for general use<\/strong>. This platform allows you to create smart contracts for many uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vitalik Buterin and his collaborators created Ethereum in 2015, quickly becoming the second-largest blockchain after Bitcoin (BTC). In addition, Ethereum has its own programming language (Solidity), allowing you to easily and quickly create smart contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Ethereum presents a series of problems that have caused developers to look for other smart contract platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the transaction fee for this network is around $0.35. The native token of this platform is BNB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BSC allows cross-chain transfer using a BEP-20 token similar to Ethereum’s ERC-20. It works via the Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus algorithm, a hybrid of the A t\u00e9t igazol\u00e1sa<\/a> (PoS) and Proof of Authority (PoA) protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, BSC is not decentralized. For example, in October 2022, it had only 26 active validators<\/a>, unlike the thousands that Ethereum has. Also, the shortage of validators reduces the security of the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardano (ADA)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cardano<\/a> is one of the most popular blockchains in Europe. This network integrates smart contracts from its third phase of development: Goguen. In this stage, the network introduced a programming language called Marlowe<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardano also plans to allow running smart contracts on mobile devices without downloading the entire blockchain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lavina (AVAX)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike Cardano, Avalanche does not have its own programming language and is compatible with EVM. Therefore, developers can easily import their Ethereum smart contracts into Avalanche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chainlink (LINK)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Chainlink entered the crypto market in 2017. It’s one of the first platforms that provide real-world information for smart contracts through Oracles<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
