Finally, <strong>Bitcoin managed to break the $60k resistance, and now we have a record of over $63,700 per coin<\/strong>. Meanwhile, ETH surpassed $2,300 per coin on the eve of its next update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two main reasons may be driving the price of BTC up. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/insights.glassnode.com\/the-week-on-chain-week-15-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Glasssnode<\/a>, there are more and more BTC holders <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/2020\/08\/22\/bitcoin-to-the-moon-5-predictions-for-2021-and-beyond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in the long term<\/a>. They\u2019ve been buying and withdrawing from cryptocurrency exchanges to store their coins in their own wallets. Once there, it\u2019s less likely they decide to spend the coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The analyst Willy Woo calls these hodlers \u201cRick Astley\u201d, after the song \u201cNever gonna give you up\u201d. That\u2019s because, apparently, <strong>they\u2019ll never give up their coins, and they\u2019ll never let their balance go down.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rick Astley loving this dip. The first company (Bitcoin-focused) is going public this 14 April, while Grayscale is planning to transform its Bitcoin Trust into the first Bitcoin ETF in the <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/tag\/United-States\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United States<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For its part, the increase in the <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/2021\/03\/08\/bitcoin-ethereum-go-bullish-again-new-investments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ethereum price<\/a> may have to do something with <strong>its last update, \u201cBerlin\u201d, whose activation is planned for this 14 April<\/strong>. This hardfork is already live on some testnets and includes four Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs): EIP-2565, EIP-2929, EIP-2718, and EIP-2930.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first two will modify the gas prices (generally reducing them)\u00a0and will improve the security. By their part, the last two will bring new types of transactions. For July, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-1559\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">London upgrade<\/a>\u00a0might improve even further the current issue with gas prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ripple vs SEC<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Surprisingly, XRP is accompanying the higher prices today. During the last seven days, <strong>this cryptocurrency has increased by over 119% <\/strong>and now it\u2019s being traded for a price of $1.82 per coin. This is the first time in three years that XRP surpasses the <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/2020\/09\/16\/tomorrow-late-discover-now-xrp-price-predictions-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dollar barrier<\/a>. Although, there\u2019s still some distance to reach its last ATH of $3.8 per coin in 2018 [CoinMarketCap].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reasons behind this price increase probably have to do with the last court hearings for Ripple. Last week, the crypto-company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/sec-ripple-discovery-bitcoin-ether\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">won access<\/a> to SEC\u2019s private documents <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/2020\/08\/20\/how-buy-bitcoin-simple-steps-nice-recipe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">about Bitcoin<\/a> and Ethereum. And the investment firm Tetragon wasn\u2019t lucky either. The company invested at least $175m in Ripple, but, after the SEC\u2019s lawsuit, they wanted their money back. So, they sued the crypto-company <a href=\"https:\/\/alfacash.blog\/2021\/01\/28\/what-happened-this-january-in-the-cryptocurrency-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in January<\/a> to recover the investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results are very bad for Tetragon now. According to the attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/attorneyjeremy\/status\/1381712967654375424\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Jeremy Hogan<\/a>, not only Ripple won the case, but Tetragon has to pay all the legal fees (over $3.4m).
