Een van de meest significante protocolupgrades in de geschiedenis van Ethereum zal in de komende weken plaatsvinden. De Merge markeert het einde van het PoW-miningprotocol op Ethereum om de weg vrij te maken voor de komst van Proof-of-stake (PoS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De naam van de wijziging is "de Merge" omdat de reeds actieve bakenketen zal fuseren met de bestaande Ethereum-mainnetketen<\/strong>Deze update behoudt de geschiedenis van het netwerk en de functionaliteit ervan met enkele wijzigingen in het consensusmechanisme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Er zijn echter bepaalde aspecten waar we rekening mee moeten houden voor de komst van The Merge. Sommige daarvan zijn veranderd sinds onze laatste Ethereum 2.0 beoordeling<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geen Ethereum 2.0 meer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ontwikkelaars gebruiken niet langer \u201cEthereum 2.0\u201d om naar de overgang te verwijzen<\/strong>. Dus Ethereum 1.0 (transacties en data) werd de uitvoeringslaag. De PoS<\/a> consensusprotocol wordt de consensuslaag genoemd, niet Eth2. Beide lagen bestaan naast elkaar en wachten op De Samenvoeging<\/strong>Deze fusie vormt de basis voor toekomstige schaalupgrades, zoals sharding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beacon Chain (de naam van de blockchain voor Ethereum 2.0) wacht al op The Merge. Sinds<\/a> December 2020, deze blockchain heeft lege blokken geproduceerd<\/strong>Maar om validator te zijn op deze nieuwe blockchain, heb je precies 32 ETH nodig. Dus in theorie beschermt dit bedrag het netwerk tegen te veel nodes en trage communicatie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De totale USD-waarde van gestakete ETH bereikte $39,7 miljard in december 2020, wat 263.918 netwerkvalidators vertegenwoordigt. Maar na de ATH daalde de USD-waarde in het 2.0-contract met ~$13 miljard op 1 juli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat gaat The Merge doen?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Met deze upgrade hopen de ontwikkelaars de problemen met de schaalbaarheid van het netwerk op te lossen en een veiligere blockchain te bouwen<\/strong>. Ze zijn ook van mening dat de koolstofafdruk<\/a> van Ethereum zou kunnen afnemen, verminderen<\/a> netwerkenergieverbruik met ten minste 99.95%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Consensys<\/a>, deze upgrade zou het netwerk voor veel meer gebruikers bereikbaar kunnen maken, niet alleen voor grote miners. In dit opzicht zal het "een gelijke verdeling van netwerkbeloningen omvatten om goed gedrag te stimuleren en opbrengst te openen voor veel meer gebruikers, ondanks een verlaagde uitgiftesnelheid van ETH en kleinere blokbeloningen", zeiden ze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enkele mogelijke problemen in The Merge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

51%-aanval<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

De Merge is een van de meest verwachte updates voor de Ethereum. Er kunnen dingen misgaan en het netwerk kan kwetsbaar zijn<\/strong>. De overgang van Ethereum-mining zal geleidelijk zijn en beide protocollen (PoW en PoS) zullen een tijdje naast elkaar bestaan. Miners zullen gedurende die tijd nog steeds miningbeloningen ontvangen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iets dat \u2018de moeilijkheidsbom\u2019 wordt genoemd, zou verantwoordelijk zijn voor het verminderen van PoW-mijnbouw<\/a> in Ethereum door de winstgevendheid ervan langzaam te verminderen. Het zal aankomen<\/a> in september, nadat het al vijf keer eerder was uitgesteld. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Difficulty Bomb verhoogt exponentieel de moeilijkheidsgraad van het blok (de tijd die validators nodig hebben om een transactie te verifi\u00ebren en toe te voegen aan de blockchain). Gedurende deze periode wordt het voor validators onmogelijk om nieuwe transacties te minen vanwege de moeilijkheidsgraad van het blok, waardoor proof-of-work op Ethereum wordt be\u00ebindigd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sommige mijnwerkers<\/a> kunnen hun machines in die periode sluiten of verkopen. Andere miners zouden kunnen migreren naar andere winstgevende netwerken, zoals Ethereum Classic (ETC)<\/strong>Als dit abrupt gebeurt, kan het netwerk worden blootgesteld aan een 51%-aanval. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deze aanval vindt plaats wanneer een entiteit of groep miners de hoogste verwerkingskracht heeft (51% of meer). Ze kunnen beslissen welke transacties ze willen bevestigen en acties toestaan zoals dubbel uitgeven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De ontwikkelaars van Ethereum hebben echter een noodplan om de samenvoeging op een geforceerde manier uit te voeren in het geval dat de hashrate extreem daalt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Risico op een harde vork <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Er is ook een mogelijkheid dat er tijdens The Merge een hard fork plaatsvindt in Ethereum. Nodehouders kunnen een onoffici\u00eble blockchain valideren als ze hun software niet up-to-date houden.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aan de andere kant zou een vrijwillige fork kunnen plaatsvinden als een groep het netwerk wil voortzetten zoals voor de fusie. Een soortgelijk precedent bestaat al in de geschiedenis van Ethereum, wat leidde tot de oprichting van Ethereum Classic (ETC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat kun je verwachten tijdens The Merge?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We zitten momenteel in fase 1 van de upgrade naar Ethereum 2.0, waarvan werd geschat dat deze in 2021 zou worden afgerond. Maar vanwege een reeks vertragingen kan het in de derde week van september eindigen. De laatste fase van de transitie zou eind 2023 kunnen arriveren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgende 4 en 6 augustus, twee bijgewerkt<\/a> vereist dat operators hun twee typen knooppunten (consensuslaag en uitvoeringslaag) gelijktijdig bijwerken en niet slechts \u00e9\u00e9n ervan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoewel sommige beurzen tijdelijk ETH-stortingen en -opnames kunnen stopzetten, Gebruikers zullen de veranderingen met de komst van The Merge nauwelijks merken.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
