Deze week kondigde PayPal zijn entree op de cryptocurrency-markt aan door zijn klanten te laten kopen, verkopen en betalen met Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) en Bitcoin Cash (BCH); in ruil voor fiat-valuta's en rechtstreeks via zijn platform. De nieuwe functie is binnenkort beschikbaar, eerst voor Amerikaanse klanten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het klinkt misschien een beetje geweldig, want tot nu toe was het een authentieke hoofdpijnuitwisseling tussen PayPal en cryptogeld<\/a>. Er is echter iets dat niet klopt met deze adoptie: eenmaal op hun platform, zal het bedrijf u uw cryptocurrencies niet laten overdragen of intrekken.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binnen in de cryptocurrency wereld<\/a>, is er een motto dat iedereen zou moeten onthouden: niet je sleutels, niet je munten<\/strong>. De priv\u00e9sleutel, zoals PayPal weet, "is de geheime code van een persoon om toegang te krijgen tot zijn cryptovaluta en deze te beheren. Als ze verloren, gestolen of zelfs vergeten zijn, kunnen ze nooit meer bij hun cryptogeld komen\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natuurlijk, als ze het sinds het begin niet eens hebben, zou het voor hen onmogelijk zijn om hun cryptocurrencies echt te bezitten. De PayPal-klanten die besluiten crypto's binnen hun platform te gebruiken zal houvast verliezen<\/a> van hun eigen geld totdat ze het inwisselen voor producten of een andere valuta. En als er een probleem is met hun account, zouden de crypto's waarschijnlijk voor altijd verliezen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het ergste is dat PayPal helaas bekend staat om het bevriezen van accounts zonder voorafgaande kennisgeving, <\/strong>en meestal zonder geldige reden<\/a> helemaal niet. Het sociale netwerk Diaspora was er in 2011 het slachtoffer van toen het 45.000 USD bereikte voor donaties via PayPal. Hun account werd zonder opgaaf van redenen bevroren en werd pas vrijgegeven na een juridische bedreiging, nog steeds zonder enig excuus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shelley Michaels, een 25-jarige advocaat-stagiair uit Bedfordshire, was een ander slachtoffer, en ze moest haar zaak voor de rechtbank brengen alleen omdat ze meer items dan normaal op eBay had verkocht. Gelukkig voor haar won ze, maar niet iedereen heeft hetzelfde geluk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positief versus negatief: Bitcoin op PayPal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PayPal heeft ongeveer 346 miljoen klanten wereldwijd, en dat is in ieder geval goed nieuws voor Bitcoin<\/a> en blockchain<\/a> tokens: het impliceert een hogere acceptatie en algemeen bewustzijn voor cryptoassets. Je kunt het dus een enorme advertentie voor crypto's noemen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het werkte al, als je erover nadenkt: Bitcoin overtreft 13.000 USD en het grootste deel van de markt in felgroen is echt een goed teken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het daadwerkelijke gebruik van cryptocurrencies binnen PayPal is echter waarschijnlijk niet de beste optie, tenzij je het meteen gaat inwisselen voor een andere valuta of product. Maar je zult te maken krijgen met de gebruikelijke hoge kosten en misschien meer, aangezien deze functie mogelijk is vanwege de PayPal-alliantie met Paxos-service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het risico van ineens een geblokkeerde rekening is er ook,<\/strong> hangend als een zwaard van Damocles. Daarom is het beter om een niet-bewarende cryptocurrency-uitwisseling te gebruiken (zoals Alfacash<\/a>), waar uw geld van het begin tot het einde alleen van u is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
