Technisch gezien hadden we afgelopen januari al Brexit. Er is echter momenteel (en tot eind december) een \u201caanpassingsperiode\u201d voor de burgers en bedrijven, waarin de overheid werkt aan hun wetten en relatie met de Europese Unie voor de toekomst. En een van de dingen die ze voorbereiden is nieuwe regelgeving voor stablecoins en Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens een nieuwe aankondiging<\/a> by Her Majesty’s Treasury (HM Treasury), the UK is planning to remain as \u201can open, attractive international financial centre\u201d, and for that, ze zullen nieuwe maatregelen opleveren met betrekking tot nieuwe financi\u00eble technologie\u00ebn, zoals stablecoins en CBDC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bovendien kijken ze ernaar uit om nieuwe buitenlandse investeerders en fintech-bedrijven naar het land te trekken door duidelijke en vriendschappelijke regels<\/a>. Rishi Sunak, kanselier van HM Treasury, zei hierover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe beginnen aan een nieuw hoofdstuk in de geschiedenis van financi\u00eble dienstverlening en vernieuwen de positie van het VK als 's werelds meest vooraanstaande financi\u00eble centrum. Door zoveel mogelijk gelijkwaardigheidsbeslissingen te nemen bij gebrek aan duidelijkheid vanuit de EU, doen we wat goed is voor het VK en bieden we bedrijven zekerheid en stabiliteit\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Er wordt gezegd dat de nieuwe maatregelen gevolgen kunnen hebben voor bedrijven, banken, bouwfondsen, vermogensbeheerders en levensverzekeraars<\/strong>. Naast de financi\u00eble, zal het VK ook de eerste Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) oprichten om de milieudoelstellingen te bereiken, welke maatregelen in 2023 actief zullen worden. Waarschijnlijk betekent dit dat de maatregelen over stablecoins klaar zullen zijn tegen de hetzelfde jaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Werken aan crypto deze 2020<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In de tussentijd zal de Schatkist in gesprek zijn met de Bank of England om de algemene emissie van CBDC wereldwijd te beschouwen als een aanvulling op contant geld, en hoe ze in het land zouden werken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat betreft de stablecoins<\/a>, ze zijn van mening dat deze de betalingen goedkoper en sneller kunnen maken en zijn van plan om "de potenti\u00eble voordelen" ervan te benutten<\/strong>; weliswaar, de mogelijke risico's onder controle te krijgen door een kader te cre\u00ebren met minimumnormen voor emissie en gebruik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het is vermeldenswaard dat de Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) vorige maand verboden in het land<\/a> de financi\u00eble cryptocurrency-derivaten voor particuliere beleggers, omdat ze dit soort instrumenten niet als veilig beschouwen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De nieuwe regelgeving kan dus komen met een aantal nieuwe verboden voor de risicovollere tools in de wereld van CBDC en stablecoins, ook erg gerelateerd aan de zeer risicovolle DeFi-toepassingen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
