Esta semana, o PayPal anunciou sua entrada no mercado de criptomoedas, permitindo que seus clientes comprem, vendam e paguem com Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) e Bitcoin Cash (BCH); em troca de moedas fiduci\u00e1rias e diretamente por meio de sua plataforma. O novo recurso estar\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel em breve, primeiro para clientes dos EUA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pode parecer maravilhoso porque, at\u00e9 agora, era uma aut\u00eantica dor de cabe\u00e7a trocar entre PayPal e criptomoeda<\/a>. No entanto, h\u00e1 algo que n\u00e3o est\u00e1 certo com essa ado\u00e7\u00e3o: uma vez na plataforma, a empresa n\u00e3o deixar\u00e1 voc\u00ea transferir nem retirar suas criptomoedas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voc\u00ea pode encontrar esta informa\u00e7\u00e3o preocupante em seu FAQ<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dentro de mundo criptomoeda<\/a>, h\u00e1 um lema que todos devem lembrar: nem suas chaves, nem suas moedas<\/strong>. A chave privada, como o PayPal sabe, \u201c\u00e9 o c\u00f3digo secreto de uma pessoa para acessar e gerenciar sua criptomoeda. Se perdidos, roubados ou mesmo esquecidos, eles nunca mais poder\u00e3o obter sua criptomoeda novamente \u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claro, se eles nem mesmo o t\u00eam desde o in\u00edcio, seria imposs\u00edvel para eles possuirem de fato suas criptomoedas. Os clientes do PayPal que decidir\u00e3o usar criptos dentro de sua plataforma vai perder o controle<\/a> de seus pr\u00f3prios fundos at\u00e9 que sejam trocados por produtos ou outra moeda. E se houver um problema com sua conta, os cryptos provavelmente perder\u00e3o para sempre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pior parte \u00e9 que o PayPal \u00e9 tristemente famoso por congelar contas sem aviso pr\u00e9vio, <\/strong>e normalmente sem raz\u00e3o v\u00e1lida<\/a> em absoluto. A rede social Diaspora foi v\u00edtima disso em 2011, quando atingiu 45.000 d\u00f3lares em doa\u00e7\u00f5es atrav\u00e9s do PayPal. A conta deles foi congelada sem explica\u00e7\u00e3o e s\u00f3 foi liberada ap\u00f3s amea\u00e7a legal, ainda sem qualquer desculpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shelley Michaels, uma advogada estagi\u00e1ria de 25 anos de Bedfordshire, foi outra v\u00edtima, e ela teve que levar seu caso ao tribunal apenas por vender mais itens do que o normal no eBay. Felizmente para ela, ela ganhou, mas nem todos t\u00eam a mesma sorte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positivo vs negativo: Bitcoin no PayPal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

O PayPal tem cerca de 346 milh\u00f5es de clientes globais e isso \u00e9, pelo menos, uma boa not\u00edcia para Bitcoin<\/a> e blockchain<\/a> tokens: implica uma maior ado\u00e7\u00e3o e consci\u00eancia geral de criptoassets. No entanto, o uso real de criptomoedas dentro do PayPal provavelmente n\u00e3o \u00e9 a melhor op\u00e7\u00e3o, a menos que voc\u00ea v\u00e1 troc\u00e1-lo imediatamente por outra moeda ou produto. Mas voc\u00ea ter\u00e1 que lidar com as altas taxas usuais e talvez mais, considerando que esse recurso \u00e9 poss\u00edvel por causa da alian\u00e7a do PayPal com o servi\u00e7o Paxos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O risco de uma conta congelada de repente tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 l\u00e1,<\/strong> pendente como uma espada de D\u00e2mocles. \u00c9 por isso que \u00e9 melhor usar alguma troca de criptomoeda sem cust\u00f3dia (como Alfacash<\/a>), onde seus fundos ser\u00e3o apenas seus do in\u00edcio ao fim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
